Cayo man tries to run over cops
While police successful apprehended a group of alleged drug traffickers in the north, in Cayo a pair of cops almost got run over in their attempt to apprehend two suspects. A police patrol on the Western Highway in Santa Elena Town early Wednesday morning spotted a parked vehicle belonging to Charles Trapp. The police say they suspected that drugs were in the vehicle and approached it with the intention of conducting a search. The police say that as they got near to the vehicle, someone jumped out and ran away. The other occupant, identified as thirty-seven year old Charles Trapp, then reportedly drove the vehicle towards the approaching officers during which two shot were fired at the vehicle. None of the bullets reached their target and Trapp was able to drive off. Police pursued but could not catch up with him. But Trapp’s flight from the police was short lived as not long after, the suspect’s mother called the police and handed him over to authorities. Charles Trapp has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, willfully refusing to stop when directed to do so and driving an unlicensed motor vehicle.
