Belize and Mexico to Meet for Discussion on Cross Border Bus Runs
Meanwhile, on the regional front, Belize’s Minister of Transport and Mexico’s Minister of Transport are scheduled to meet before the end of the month to discuss bus runs between Belize and Mexico. Minister Ferguson says he intends to negotiate for Belizean bus companies to take their customers all the way to Cancun, Mexico. In return, Mexican operators would be allowed to bring their customers to Belize. An agreement could see the return of services like ADO. Minister Ferguson told us more.
Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of Transport
“I am having a meeting with the Mexican Minister of Transport before the end of the month in Mexico City and once we can come to terms I am going to go over there to argue for my Belizean people that if they can come in to a certain part of Belize, we want to go to at least Cancun and Merida. So, that is my intention.”

“Allowing ADO and the other one to come back?”
Rodwell Ferguson
“Once we can come to terms, because let me tell you something, we live in a region. We live in Central America. We must be able to work with our neighboring countries to cooperate for regional development. I am saying if we can go into Flores in Guatemala and likewise Cancun in Mexico then I think that is a fair deal.”
