New Peace Corps volunteers to arrive Monday
They’ve been a part of the Belizean landscape for the past thirty-six years and their presence will continue to be felt as twenty-four new U.S. Peace Corps volunteers arrive on our shores on Monday June eighth. These volunteers will undergo eight weeks of training living with host families in seven rural villages: Hattieville, Burrell Boom, Bermudian Landing, Crooked Tree, San Estevan, Guinea Grass and San Jose/ San Pablo. After their swearing in ceremony on July thirty first. They will be assigned countrywide in community development programs. Six will be teachers and trainers as part of a cooperative program with the Ministry of Education, Belize Teachers College and the World Bank funded Teacher Certification project, some will be environmental education coordinators while others will be assigned to the youth service programs and vocational education centers.
