Commissioner of Police Ornel Brooks was obviously on a roll this morning as he turned his attention to the weekend robbery of guns and ammunition from the Brodies Warehouse in Belize City. Brooks said diligent police work over the last four days has resulted in the recovery of all the stolen ammunition and almost all of the weapons in the robbery.

Ornel Brooks, Commissioner of Police

“It was on Monday night around 10 p.m. that we made the first hit. We recovered some six thousand rounds of ammunition that was placed and hidden under the Belcan Bridge. Thereafter we mounted a covert operation in the area of Gentle Avenue and Leslie Street and it was around 1:30 a.m. that we made a second hit. This time we pursued three individuals and they dropped the bags, two bags that they were carrying and in these bags were contained ten weapons, there were five in each. We continued our operation throughout the night and at four o’clock we busted a house on Meighan Avenue. On busting the house we recovered another six thousand five hundred rounds of ammunition and ten more firearms.”

Brooks said the police not only took in the arms and ammo, but have also detained two people and are looking for four others believed to be directly connected with the crime. Those in custody are nineteen year old Troy Card and twenty-one year old Tyrone Augustine. Still being sought are Troy Williams, Aaron Mariano, Geovani Lauriano and Kelvin Bailey.
