Thomas Shaw and Rodwell Ferguson Go Tit for Tat
While Shaw insists that the B.B.A.’s gripe with Floralia is not a personal attack on the owners of the company, Transport Minister Rodwell Ferguson also responded to the position taken by the B.B.A. president.
Thomas Shaw, President, Belize Bus Association
“For Mr. Floralia, I have nothing against you sir, it’s not a personal attack. All I am telling you is that if something isn’t yours, don’t take it. We have a lot of runs on time that we are not presently doing and if you want to do those runs, sir, you go and apply for the night runs. I am doing 8:45, I am doing 8:00, I am doing 7:00, sir, you can apply for a 9:30 or a 10:00 run and you can apply for a 4:30 run in the morning from Belmopan and we have nothing against that. But don’t come and sit in front of the table. These operators have been here for years, I am talking on behalf of my operators and when the roads were bad, these operators were out there. Where were you?”
Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of Transport
“I don’t know what he wants to say. If Mr. Shaw had the buses that Floralia has, they would have been the first persons we would have called on to replace whatever needs to be replaced because we are upgrading our transportation industry and we must upgrade it within a certain time.”
