National Fire Service Addresses Simon Lamb Street Fire

Late this evening, we heard from Kenneth Mortis, the Station Supervisor at the National Fire Service. According to Mortis, a preliminary investigation has revealed that the house fire was unintentionally set by one of the tenants. He gave us an overview of the destruction the fire left in its wake.

“What we can report so far is that the fire started at the rare bedroom of the two-storey wooden structure that was situated on Simon Lamb Street. This particular room was occupied one of those unwelcomed tenants so to speak. He was involved in something out of the ordinary that eventually consumed the building, spread to nearby structures and caused vehicular damages and lose to the tenants next door.”

“So it is suspected that the fire was set by somebody?”

“Not set with intent, but due to an accident. That accident cost several people to be homeless. We know that particular structure was totally gutted. The cement that sits right behind that, on Nurse Seay Street, it sustained minimal interiors damages to its rear room and siding. The building directly adjacent to the house on fire sustained fire, water, smoke, and heat damage to its front. In that particular yard the owner of that structure lost three vehicles as a result of the fire. One of those vehicles was a box moving truck and two small cars. The third structure sustained minor fire damage.”
