Transport Minister: All Bus Companies Who Meet Criteria Are Entitled to Concessions

During the dispute, the B.B.A also demanded that its members equally enjoy whatever duty exemptions were granted to Floralia to import its fleet of buses. Today, Minister Ferguson said that all the bus companies are entitled to the same privileges.

“Every Belizean has a right to apply to the Ministry of Finance for whatever incentive he wants. It’s up to the ministry to say that you meet the requirements. And so we are telling the operators, once they meet the criteria, everybody is liable to get that incentive. As a matter of fact, by August, the new legislation should be passed, (stipulating) that incentives will be available for many Belizeans who want to start a business, and they’ll be part of it.”
