B.V.A. Says Teams Need Help to Attend NORCECA Games
…and while there is an excitement, B.V.A. President Allan Sharp says that it will cost approximately thirty-five thousand dollars per team to attend, including acquiring specific branded jersey and footwear for each player, as mandated by NORCECA.
Allan Sharp, President, Belize Volleyball Association
“Cost is a big factor. In these tournaments, unlike past tournaments, you have to wear specific uniform brands and the actual genuine material. We cannot wear the ones weh look like it; we have to wear the actual ones, including tennis shoes. So we are desperately going to be asking the government, the public, the private sector to please help us because right now we are sourcing all the tennis shoes, getting flights into the different areas, uniforms have to be the correct type, the correct printing, everything on it. So there is a lot more expense than when we normally go to a tournament. Just the registration fee is twenty-five hundred U.S. dollars for each of these tournaments. So it is not a small amount of money that we have to raise in a very small period. So we are appealing to the public, to the government, to the private sector.”
