Frank “Animal” Garcia is Murdered Inside His Dangriga Home

Frank “Animal” Garcia

An early morning murder took place in Dangriga today and claimed the life of Frank Garcia, who also goes by the nickname “Animal.” Garcia was inside his house in the Rivas Estate area when the gunman entered his house and fired the deadly shots at him. News Five’s Duane Moody travelled south today and spoke with Garcia’s girlfriend who says that she had just left the house, when she heard the shots ring out. It happened within minutes and police say are looking for known suspects. Here’s a report on this latest homicide.

Duane Moody, Reporting

Twenty-eight-year-old Frank Garcia was inside this elevated wooden house in the Rivas Estate area of Dangriga when, sometime after six o’clock this morning, a gunman entered the house and opened fire on him. Residents heard about four to five shots and within seconds came running to the area. Among those persons was Garcia’s girlfriend, who had left the house seconds before the shots rang out. She entered the house to find Garcia dead on the floor.

“I say get up and lock di door. Ih say ahn. I say please noh make we quarrel about this now. That dah noh something weh we wah argue about. We noh wah argue about lock door. When I di lef outta dah house fi go dah my sister, he woulda deh right back ah me fi lock di door. Anyways, I walk out of the house, I come downstairs, I reach the last step, I look around cause he do that. When he come downstairs, he always look around in his surroundings. When I reach my sister step I hear the first shot. I hear the first shot and I come. So I say gunshot, but I mi feel dah off of the next house by wah next young man. But when I hear again bang bang, I say [bleep] and I run the bang pan my sister door fu make she open the door. I tell ahn open the door because shot di beat. But then after the gunshot dehn, I see the bally and wah other bwai di come and I done borrow my sister fuh make I call he, but he noh di answer and so I tell my sister he noh di answer me and then I start panic. I run gone dah back and the first place I run to dah di bed cause dah deh I left ahn. But I noh see he pan the bed, all I see dah bullet shells ina di bed. When I look pan the ground, dah right deh flat face down ina di same two boxers with blood. I di call police, and call police and all they do dah heng up the phone. So I borrow wah young lady phone and I call police again and so they answer. I say mi bwai get shot and I think ih dead – ih noh the movement nothing; ih motionless pan the ground.”

It is believed that the gunman came on a bicycle, which Garcia’s girlfriend says she passed when leaving the house, but thought nothing much of it. After the shooting that bike was discovered in bushes on the street at the rear of the property.

“I see wah bike flat pan the ground ina the walkway that we use to go to his house. But I dah like who fah this bike? I noh see nobody, but then I di look now fi make I see dah who it belongs to, but nobody. But I di stand up now and my mind di tell me go back fi make ih know that somebody deh out deh. But ina my head I di say the bike belongs to the young man weh di build the house pan the next side, but I still noh see. So I say maybe somebody deh ina di area the pick up things out of the garbage cause that usual.”

“After the gunshots happen and all of that, the bicycle mi still deh deh?”

Voice of: Girlfriend of Deceased

“The bicycle neva mi deh deh none at all; the bike move already. They find di bike pan the other street, ina di bush. So the person noh come from through the front back. When the person come, ih come from through the front, but when ih left, ih noh left from through the front because nobody noh see ahn when ih left. So I think ih lef from through the back cause he make wah lee picado [road] when ih noh want pass from through the front. So I think dah right from deh di person gone cause weh part di person dash di bike, ih noh deh nowhere far from weh part the picado deh. Aame door weh neva lock. I noh know if ih mi di get up fu lock di door, I noh know if ih jump out of the bed. I noh know weh happen. I can’t say.”
