P.U.P. will return to House on Friday

The People’s United Party has decided to end its boycott of the National Assembly and will return to the House of Representatives for this Friday’s sitting. The return, which had been rumored for several weeks, was confirmed by P.U.P. Secretary General Godfrey Smith in an interview this morning on F.M. Two Thousand’s “Breakfast Show”. While Smith did not give specific details, it is believed that the P.U.P. will use the House meeting to voice its concerns over Government’s plans to possibly extend the date of elections beyond the traditional five year period. The P.U.P. members walked out of the House on January twenty third in protest over what they called the unconstitutional attempt to punish party leader Said Musa. Friday’s House meeting is expected to deal with a number of new revenue related pieces of legislation.
