Elmer Nah’s Murder Case Adjourned Until March 17

Elmer Nah, the former police corporal who is charged with the double murder of the Ramnarace brothers from Belmopan appeared in court again today. But Nah spent fewer than five minutes in court before he was given a new adjournment date. He was returned on remand to the custody of the Belize Central Prison until May seventeenth, and just like he did on his first arraignment, Nah had a lot of words for the cameras. After the Magistrate assigned him a new court date, Nah was escorted away by two heavily-armed policemen who returned him to the prison. But he used the opportunity of the cameras rolling to make his point. Nah had appeared before Senior Magistrate, Baja Shoman on February tenth when he was read his third charge of murder, that of Vivian Ramnarace. On that occasion, he was also charged with the attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and wounding upon Yemi Alberto. Alberto was shot along with Vivian Ramnarace and their two spouses, brothers – Jon and David Ramnarace on the night of New Year’s Eve. David Ramnarace and Yemi Alberto had gone to visit Jon and Vivian Ramnarace at their home in the Maya Mopan area of Belmopan when they were ambushed by a gunman who entered the premises and shot all four several times.
