Tuesday Morning Fire in Belize City Leaves Mother of Seven Pleading for Help

A house fire on Curassow Street in Belize City has left a mother of seven publicly pleading for assistance. Judith Parham was paying her sister a visit at the hospital when she received a phone call informing her that her home for the past sixteen years was on fire. There are speculations that the fire may have been started by her mentally ill granduncle who occasionally slept under the wooden structure.

Mih house bun down. I don’t have anything else. I don’t know what all burn because I haven’t gone in there yet.”

 

Paul Lopez

“Where were you?”

 

Judith Parham

“I mih gawn dah hospital with my sister because ih never feel good. So, we gawn check pan ah. And then deh call me and said, mih house the burn down. So, I come check it. I had my little daughter in their too. My sister in law brother helps ah come out, so I don’t know. If anybody could assist me, I need help. Six zero seven seven four five eight or six two two one three eight eight.”

 

Paul Lopez

“Any idea of how this happen?”

 

Judith Parham

“No sir, like I told you. I was not here. I went out.”

 

Paul Lopez

“We are hearing, as you are, that somebody may have set it on fire, that is somebody who is mentally challenged?”

 

Judith Parham

“Yes, because my granduncle sleeps under my house now and then. So, I don’t know if it is him, because I never the yah, so I don’t know.”
