Opposition Leader Says His Dismissal from House Meeting Was Unwarranted
Barrow was also asked about his dismissal from inside the House of Representatives on Friday. As we reported, Barrow was kicked out of the meeting while members were debating the Legal Aid Bill. Tensions between Barrow and the Valerie Woods, the Speaker of the House, were high, after he reportedly told her that she was acting like a P.U.P. Today, Barrow was asked about it and he does not think that he did anything to warrant a dismissal.
Moses “Shyne” Barrow, Leader of Opposition
“I raised this issue, the member for Caribbean Shores gets up and starts to grand stand and talk about another part of the bill when the Opposition has given support for the bill. But, I raise this particular instance so he starts to say oh you never read the bill; you don’t understand the bill because you are an entertainer, all types of personal attacks. There is a standing order, contrary to what the speaker rules; there is a standing order that refers to clarification. It is called elucidation. But the speaker is smart, when I say clarification, she knows it is elucidation, clarity where I am allow to rise and seek clarification with the member on his feet. Now, the speaker should have deferred to the member on his feet whether or not they would yield. She is a P.U.P., let us make that clear. She was a candidate for Albert, she was a P.U.P. Senator, she I believe is still a member of the women’s organization of the P.U.P. But, I understand. My granny use to say, call me anything except a P.U.P. So I could see why she was offended.”
