What’s Going On with Laddie’s Law?
Earlier this year, the Justice for Laddie Foundation organized a Youth for Change Symposium in Belize City. During that event, they launched Laddie’s Law – a document suggesting amendments to the law in terms of processes to ensure accountability of law enforcement officers during shooting incidents that involve them. Laddie’s grandmother Lucy Fleming and his father Emil Bradley gave the media an update.

“At this point in time, we were sharing that with the public to see what the public response would be to some simple measures for the police department to prove transparency. The call to justice has been good; we’ve heard a lot from a lot of people and I think we need to now seek legal authority on this law and see how we go about. Now we’ve been really working towards the case and public awareness. So once we do achieve justice then that will be our next call, to try to get Laddie’s Law put into effect.”

“We are getting the support but at this time, we are focusing on this and after this we will move forward and we’ll deal with the Laddie’s Law that you are talking about. But right now, we are mainly focused on the trial right now.”
