Two Men Injure Each Other During Confrontation in Placencia
Two men had to seek medical attention after a confrontation in Placencia resulted in one of them being stabbed and the other being shot. The incident unfolded just before ten on Tuesday night in the vicinity of Rick’s Cafe on the Placencia Main Road. Police say that when they arrived, they met the owner of the business, fifty-four-year-old Richard Lawrence Labonte bleeding on his right hand. On the lower flat of the building was another man, who was bleeding from both feet. Police say they found out that sometime around nine-fifty that night Labonte was on the verandah of the establishment waiting for his employees to close the business when a man exited a tattoo shop next door and approached him and began an argument. At first, Labonte shrugged him off, but when he realized that the other man had a knife, he walked away and went downstairs. The man reportedly followed Labonte and aggressed in menacingly and when Labonte tried to stop him, the man stabbed him in his right hand. Labonte, who had a bag containing his firearm, managed to arm himself with the weapon and shot the man in both feet. Both men had to be taken for medical attention. Labonte was treated and released and his attacker, later identified as thirty-year-old bartender, Rudolph Rudon, was later transported to the Southern Regional Hospital for further medical attention. Police have kept the gun and the knife as exhibit.
