Former minister charged with Manslaughter by Negligence
In some tragic news from down south, four year old Rihanna Pineda of Steadfast Village lost her life shortly before five yesterday evening. The minor succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at Belize Healthcare Partners. Pineda was a victim of a traffic incident that occurred on February first between miles fifteen and sixteen of the Hummingbird highway. It was reported that former minister of government, sixty-one year old Ainslie Leslie of San Ignacio Town was driving in his Dodge Ram pickup on the Stann Creek Valley Road when he saw Pineda running across the highway. In efforts to avoid hitting her, he swerved to the far left of the road, but the girl was still clipped by the right fender of the vehicle. Pineda was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital for the fracture she sustained to her left foot and head injuries. Leslie who was served with a notice of intended prosecution will by tomorrow be charged with Manslaughter by Negligence, Driving Without Due Care and Attention and Causing Death by Careless Conduct.
