Burglary charges brought against Barry Robinson
If the old adage “no news is good news,” holds any merit, then you’ll love the bulletin from the police tonight. The only incident noted in the daily sitrep from Belmopan is the detention of a forty one year old man from Toledo, apparently for the possession of an unlicensed sixteen gauge shotgun. It’s not exactly the stuff that makes a dramatic headline story but these days, when the police don’t have much to report it indicates either that crime is under control or that all the typewriters at police stations across the country may be broken. While no new crime was reported by police today, C.I.B. officers in Belize City have brought three counts of burglary charges against nineteen year old Barry Robinson. Robinson was in the news last week, accused of raping U.D.P. Freetown standard bearer Marissa Quan. According to Assistant Inspector of Police Simeon Alvarez, Robinson was also placed on I.D. parade and positively identified by a sixteen year old Belize City girl as the man who raped her in February. The police say that by the time Robinson appears in Magistrate’s Court Thursday morning, a second charge of rape will have been brought against him.
