Senator Sheena Pitts Criticizes Government for Lack of Resources in Judiciary
At the close of her presentation in the Senate, U.D.P Senator, Sheena Pitts conceded that there are some good aspects to the budget, but one of those is not the investment in the judiciary. The senator criticized the government for not allocating more resources to that service.
Sheena Pitts, Senator, U.D.P
“In the Judiciary, it cannot be that you will go to court and you don’t have a library available to jurists, attorneys of the Bar, with books and material for jurisprudence in this country. How much longer must we permit that a judge must have to lean on the Leader of Government Business’ library in his office for precedent and material? How much longer must we accept that a judge must lean on the library of Fred Lumor and Company for precedent? Give the Judiciary the tools it needs to function so that people don’t feel that going to court is a waste of time. And on that I will say I hope this year will be the last year that the government treats the Judiciary with the kind of disregard by not giving to it the money it needs to properly function.”
