Haitians to Present Visa Before Traveling to Belize
Cabinet, during its weekly meeting on Tuesday, has decided that Belize will cite Article 226 (A) of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas which will allow Minister of Immigration Eamon Courtenay to immediately impose a visa requirement for Haitians wishing to travel to Belize. It will also require Jamaican nationals to provide evidence of fully paid non-refundable hotel reservations prior to boarding flights to Belize. These changes come about after a full discussion on the increasing number of visitors who are using Belize as a transit point to reach to the United States. Furthermore, a ministerial taskforce has also been established to address the unchecked smuggling that is taking place in this regard.
