Shyne Congratulates New U.D.P. Queen Square Standard Bearer

Earlier today, Party Leader Shyne Barrow congratulated the new U.D.P. standard bearer for Queen Square, following a resounding victory on Sunday during a constituency convention.  Godwin Haylock and Shane Williams contested the candidacy for that electoral division under the United Democratic Party.  When the polls closed later that evening, Haylock, a close relative of incumbent Area Representative Denise “Sista B” Barrow, had trounced Williams by more than six hundred votes.  Barrow also commended the valiant effort put forward by Shane Williams.

“Since Belmopan I have, and even, I did not attend that convention, but you all know what my position was.  Since then, I have not interfered or intervened in any of the conventions, so I always congratulate both candidates.  And the turnout, thirty-two percent, that‘s almost as much as the member from Queen Square won the division, so that‘s a great turnout, eight hundred and sixty UDP‘s came out to cast their vote and I wish Mr. Godwin Haylock all the best, I congratulate him.  I also congratulate Mr. Shane Williams who, against all odds, against all probabilities offered himself and gave the people an alternative. The people chose Mr. Haylock and so we move forward.”
