Motorcycle knocked down during bike race
The litany of highway accidents was not limited to just vehicles moving on four wheels. During the Cross Country Cycle Race on Saturday morning a motorcycle carrying two officials was knocked off the road, seriously injuring one. According to passenger Rhett Reyes, the incident happened near the Three Flags complex in the village of Unitedville, shortly after eight o’clock as the race was making its way back to Belize City. Reyes says that a white pickup truck, which apparently was not authorized to be in the race, ran them off the road. The motorcyclists had just stopped in at Three Flags to purchase gasoline and was in the process of getting back into the race when the accident happened. As a result Reyes broke his right hand in two places, in addition to receiving a large cut wound above his right eye. The driver of the motorbike, Ensford Tzul, sustained cuts and bruises to his body. News Five understands that the motorcyclists were making sure that all the station prizes along the route of the race were properly accounted for.
