Fujian Chinese Nationals Arraigned for Fabricated Permits
A pair of Fujian Chinese nationals has been charged with an additional offense after being caught by Immigration officials entering Belize illegally. Twenty-seven-year-old Tianming Chen and thirty-three-year-old Kai Lin were charged for the criminal offense of using a fabricated permit. They appeared in the presence of attorney Arthur Saldivar before Magistrate Khiana Gordon late this evening where they were read one count each. Both men claimed to have permanent residency in Belize but were charged for uttering on a false document, to wit a Belizean residency verification letter presented to an Immigration Officer at the point of entry at the Philip Goldson International Airport. Prosecutor Alifah Elrington who objected to bail earlier reiterated that the men have absolutely no ties to Belize and that they are a flight risk and that police were still investigating them. They were refused bail and remanded to custody.
