Rupert Codd is Remanded for Rape of Woman
Accused rapist Rupert Codd was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Baja Shoman today for a single charge of rape. The twenty-one-year-old call center employee of mile four on the Philip Goldson Highway, was denied bail and remanded into custody until June sixth of this year. The heinous crime for which Codd is accused occurred on Sunday morning just before four o’clock in Belize City. A woman reported to police that she was on her way to the hospital to seek medical attention, and whilst walking on BelCan Bridge, she saw a man on the opposite side of the bridge. That individual, believed to be Codd, followed her onto Princess Margaret Drive where he grabbed her from behind and assaulted her with a knife before pulling her to the side of the street and raping her. But Codd was in more trouble with the court; his records show that he owed the court two thousand and five dollars for an old S.O.E. offense dating back to September fifteenth, 2020 where he had pleaded guilty to the offense of unable to provide reason for movements during curfew. Codd also has another conviction from earlier this year for which he was fine three thousand and five dollars, but that fine is due until October sixth, 2023.
