$5 million Boca del Rio Bridget Soon to Be Inaugurated

The five million dollar Boca del Rio Bridge on the island of Ambergris Caye is near completion. We have been reporting on the renovation of the bridge since the inception of the project. Well, tonight we can tell you that it will be inaugurated in a couple of weeks. And according to Mayor Nunez, the cameras that have been installed on the newly renovated bridge are already serving their intended purpose.

“We are planning on inaugurating the bridge early in May. We are almost done with the project. We also installed some pedestrian crossings, also two sidewalks were done, one on the south and one on the north side. We also just painted those pedestrian crossings so that it is visible to the drivers. We are also painting the railings on it. We are installing some lights and there also some cameras. I must mention that there was a golf cart that was stolen a few days ago and because of those cameras it helped and assisted the family to be able to locate it. So, the cameras are there for the safety of everyone, the boaters, and the people inland. It has proven to work and we are very excited because the bridge looks really nice and it is going to look even nicer once it is completed.”
