Still No Leads in Murder of Wellington Williams
He was executed on Saturday night in the vicinity of the Port of Belize compound on Central America Boulevard, and tonight, Commissioner of Police Chester Williams confirmed that there have been no arrests as yet for the murder of sixteen-year-old Wellington Williams. A motive for the cold-blooded homicide of the high school student is a mystery for family, friends and the Belize Police Department. The teenager was delivering food for his aunt’s fast-food restaurant when he was cut down in a hail of bullets by two gunmen. ComPol Williams gave an update on the murder.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“At this time, no we have no update. Investigators are still doing their best to ascertain who the perpetrator is as well as to gather evidence. It is extremely difficult because the area where it occurred was dark. And while we were able to secure some camera footages, those footages were from a distance and so getting to identify the perpetrator on those footages has been extremely difficult for us. We certainly are not giving up; we are still in the area canvassing to see if we will be able to locate a witness or witnesses who may be able to aid the police in trying to bring a successful closure to the family of Wellington Williams. We are looking at every possibility. Like I said, investigators are still looking at it. We want to ensure that we arrive at a definitive motive as well as being able to identify positively who are the perpetrators of this crime.”
