Taxi Man Charged for Gracie Rock Murder, Police Looking for 2 Others
Three days after the Sibun River mayhem in Gracie Rock, thirty-five-year-old Tyrone Young, a taxi man and construction worker of Mahogany Street, was arraigned for the murder of Denver Montero that occurred on Sunday afternoon. Montero, along with many others, was socializing in the river near the hammock bridge when they were ambushed by a group of men and robbed of their personal belongings. In the process, Montero was mortally wounded, while Ryan Kerr was shot and rushed to the hospital for treatment. In the aftermath of the deadly shooting, police were able to detain a van with twelve persons, including Young and five minors. Today, Young appeared before Senior Magistrate Baja Shoman in the presence of attorney Ronnell Gonzalez and was slapped with one count of murder. He was additionally charged with one count each of attempted murder and use of deadly means of harm upon shooting victim Ryan Kerr. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams says that police are looking for two others to be charged in connection with this homicide.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“Police recorded statements and interviewed a number of persons and that led to the arrest of Tyrone Young for the crime of murder. We are still looking for another Young, Tyrone Young’s son and one Aaron Smith who will also be charged in respect to the murder and incident at Gracie Rock. Police also conducted intense search of the area where the incident occurred and that led to the recovery of one nine millimetre pistol and several expended shells. The weapon we believe was the weapon of choice used in the commission of the crime. And so good police work in terms of the work done by CIB to put the pieces together and quick response from the Hattieville police who did the initial interception led to the arrest and we see how the matter goes from there.”

“In terms of the robbery that preceded the murder, is anyone going to be charged for that?”
Chester Williams
“Well we are hoping that we would be able to, but so far, the persons who were robbed are not cooperating with investigators and so we have not been able to bring charges against them for that. I can say to you though that we have recovered most of the items stolen during the robbery, but the non-cooperation of those victims have so far prevented us from laying charges against anyone win respect for the robbery.”
