Belitopia Comes Alive Inside the Bliss This Weekend
Jankunu Productions is back with another one of its Belizean dramas. Belitopia is all about Belize in 2050. The futuristic play captures life in Belize now compared to life in Belize thirty years from today. Written by playwright Julie-Ann Ellis Bradley, Belitopia comes to life on Friday and Saturday nights inside the Bliss Centre for Performing Arts. Sandra Mckay, the Founder of Jankunu Productions, spoke with News Five earlier today.

“The name of the show is Belitopia. It is portraying Belize in the year 2050, very futuristic and the tagline is imperfectly perfect. As you speak of Belitopia you are looking at a utopia Belize right, almost too good to be true that things can be all that we want it to be. But, we are bringing it over the in the form of comedy, comedy, some music, singing, some movements and it is going to be very entertaining. We are looking at Belize now versus 2050 through the eyes of a family. So, you get to see everybody’s take on what is going on, those who were here prior to 2050 and the child who was born in the 2050 era that is all they know. So, you get all the perspectives as how you move through life, how you navigate through the issues and challenges through the eyes of this family. But, when I tell you it is funny, it is extremely funny. Julie-Ann Ellis Bradley, my fellow founder of Jankunu Productions, she is the playwright and I told her this is your best work ever, it is hilarious. We have tickets at the Bliss right now and it is Friday the fourteenth and Saturday the fifteenth, two nights. The tickets are for VIP a hundred dollars. That is for the balcony where you could take your food and beverage. And then premium downstairs, sixty dollars, around that reserve thirty-five and upstairs general thirty dollars, so we are making sure everybody can come. It starts at seven-thirty p.m. sharp.”
