Man detained for rape of 4 year old

While Belize City police continue their search for the perpetrator of the ghastly murder in La Democracia, in the Stann Creek District a nineteen year old man is in custody for a crime that many people believe is even worse. Kenworth Augustine has been detained by police for the rape of a four year old girl on Monday afternoon in Seine Bight Village. According to local reports, Augustine was seen riding in the village with two kindergarten children on a bicycle. He had apparently picked them up after school. According to an account allegedly told by the little girl to her grandmother, they were about halfway from their destination when Augustine took her into nearby bushes and molested her while the other child waited under an abandoned building. The girl’s grandmother became suspicious when the girl came home crying and bleeding. The child was taken to the clinic in Independence Village and later transferred to the Dangriga Hospital for further examination and treatment.
