F.F.B and B.T.B. Sign MoU for National Team
Belize’s National Football A team will receive much-needed support through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding today, ahead of preparations to play upcoming games. The Belize Tourism Board and the Football Federation of Belize agreed that, under this arrangement, the B.T.B. as the main corporate sponsor of the Belize National Team Program, will provide the funds necessary for the team to be able to adequately prepare itself to face off against its counterparts from other countries in friendly and competition matches. F.F.B President, Sergio Chuc, explained the significance of the agreement after the signing.
Sergio Chuc, President, Football Federation of Belize
“The signing is an agreement whereby the B.T.B is going to help finance the National A Team preparation. I don’t want to go into the details of the figure but it is quite substantial. It is actually the first time that a government entity has committed so much money into one particular federation to promote sports, and in particular, football. At this moment I think we are the number one sport by far in the country. The government has seen it fit to push some funding into the national team. I think it will benefit us tremendously at the federation and I think it will benefit also, the tourism product that we offer as a country.”
