John Brackett Spared Jail Time for Stabbing Security Guard

John Brackett

Many would remember fifty-four-year-old John Brackett, an amputee who protested the Social Security Board last year regarding his disability benefits.  Today, he appeared before Justice Ricardo O’Neil Sandcroft who imposed a suspended sentence for the lesser charge of attempted murder and deadly means of harm.  In February 2018, Brackett reportedly stabbed Kenrick Valencio, a security guard, in the abdomen outside of Princess Hotel and Casino.  Five years later, the matter has concluded despite the presiding judge wanting to sentence him to jail time.  Brackett was spared after attorney Oscar Selgado pleaded on his behalf during mitigation.  Brackett has instead been ordered to undergo two years of anger management.
