Man arrested on conspiracy charge in murder of pregnant woman
Police have still not been able to track down the suspect in last week’s gruesome murder of twenty one year old Geneive Robinson and her unborn son in the village of La Democracia in the Belize District. But they believe they have made a positive step in the right direction. Forty two year old Ellis Taibo, originally brought in to give testimony which freed Jimmy Dave Robinson as a suspect, has been formally arrested and charged for conspiracy to murder. According to Simeon Alvarez, there is sufficient evidence to link Taibo to the brutal slaying.
A.I.P. Simeon Alvarez, Officer in Charge, C.I.B.
“As the investigation continued up to this time we have evidence that on the day of the disappearance of Mrs. Robinson, Taibo along with the two suspects, Muslims… They were seen boarding the Novelo’s bus headed towards San Ignacio. This was witnessed by the decease’s husband who came off the same bus.
Taibo clearly stated to us that prior to the incident, in respect to the death of Mrs. Robinson, he said that he prevented Mr. Robinson from being assaulted by the Muslim fellow. He said that if he didn’t prevent this incident from occur he could have maybe been the person that would have been killed.”
Alvarez says that under questioning, Taibo told them that he had stopped off at his home in Esperanza Village and that the couple continued on, presumably to San Ignacio.
