Pregnant woman murdered in La Democracia
It’s the kind of senseless crime that is no stranger to this newscast. And this latest incident has left an entire community in shock. Residents of La Democracia Village in the Belize District are tonight still trying to figure out why a pregnant woman was brutally stabbed to death in their village over the weekend.
Twenty four hours after the discovery of the body of twenty one year old Geineive Robinson, residents of La Democracia Village remain in shock over her brutal murder. Robinson, who was nine months pregnant, was expecting twins in the next two weeks time, when she was stabbed to death. According to Assistant Inspector Simeon Alvarez, Robinson’s husband, Jimmy Dave Robinson reported to them that he was supposed to have met his wife Friday, March twentieth at the Muslim temple in Belize City, but she never did show up.

“When he went back home eleven thirty that night, she was not at home. He made a report to the police that his wife went missing and the police conducted a further investigation into this disappearance from other information being received, no. And on yesterday’s date the police visited the area where they live.”
The police searched the immediate area, but it wasn’t until two days later that they came across Robinson’s body. The partially decomposed body was lying in a curled up position behind some thick bushes about a half mile away, across the road from the Robinson’s home. While the police say at this time they suspect the husband may have been involved and as such have detained him when we visited the area, neighbors are saying that the police have the wrong man in custody. While we could not get anyone to speak to us on camera, they believe Robinson’s murder is the result of a ongoing feud between the Robinsons and a couple that live adjacent to them. It is believed that the alleged killer described to us only as a muscular, brown skin American, use to get upset when the Robinsons younger children would venture into his kitchen, and that late Thursday evening a fight apparently broke out. Mrs. Robinson, according to neighbors, despite her very delicate situation apparently threw water on her neighbor after he started beating up on her. It is believed that as Robinson made her way down the road to catch a bus into Belize City, she was attacked, dragged into nearby bushes and fatally stabbed to death. Both mother and her unborn son apparently died on the spot.
Police have detained Jimmy Dave Robinson in connection with his wife’s brutal murder. They are also questioning a neighbor, Ellis Taibo, in connection with the incident, although he is not a suspect in the murder. Taibo it is believed could provide a credible alibi for Jimmy Dave on the day of the incident. Witnesses say the alleged attacker was seen boarding a bus headed towards San Ignacio on Sunday morning.
