Alliance Bank ATM burglarized; nothing stolen
The Alliance Bank ATM on Barrack Road appears to be a frequent target for criminals. Sometime between five p.m. on February fifth and ten a.m. on February ninth, the ATM was burglarized. A thief or thieves went inside the building by torching the metal door on the northern side of the building. According to Kenneth Chinapen, the employee of the bank who reported the incident, even though the vault was damaged, nothing was stolen by the jackers since they could not totally penetrate the vault.
This is not the first time that this particular ATM has been in the news. On December twenty-second of 2008, two Alliance Bank employees were attacked by a man who ordered them inside the ATM cubicle. The attacker demanded the combination for the ATM safe then struggled with the security officer, Griffith Green Senior, for his gold chain and a second attacker joined in the struggle and robbed Green. The two culprits then walked out and fled.
