Belize Chosen to Host Regional Office for ICAT
Belize has been successfully chosen to host the regional Climate Action Transparency center. The center will be at the Ministry of Sustainable Development and is in partnership with the Central American Commission for Environment and Development under the SICA framework. It’s a major accomplishment for the country, which C.E.O. in the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management Doctor Kenrick Williams says is due to the work that Belize has been doing in an effort to tackle climate change. He explains the benefits of hosting this regional office.
Dr. Kenrick Williams, C.E.O., Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change
“Because of the exemplary work that Belize has done, many countries supported Belize’s hosting of this center so we are excited to indicate that Belize was successful in this process and now because of our efforts we are now going to be hosting this regional center, this regional climate action transparency center. Certainly better access, direct access resources. Certainly having an influence in where the support and financing goes in terms of investing in strengthening these systems. Certainly, to host a regional office, it demonstrates the knowledge, the support, the structure and the progress that we’ve made as a country to recognise that as an exemplary country we have the necessary resources, we have the capacity to host this regional center and really demonstrate Belize’s progress over time in terms of the achievements.”
