Government criticizes press in Goldson action

The office of the Prime Minister has issued a press release to clarify the status of Albert Representative Philip Goldson. Citing reports in several newspapers that Goldson has been replaced as Minister of Human Resources, the release states that despite his illness, Goldson maintains his status as Minister but under section 43 (1) of the constitution Minister of State Faith Babb has been authorized to perform his ministerial functions. The changing of portfolios may only be accomplished under section 41 of the Constitution, a move which has not yet been made. The release characterized the mistaken interpretation, allegedly made by the Amandala and Reporter, as “deliberately mischievous” and “an attempt to negatively prejudice the public’s understanding.”
