Beer company launches World Cup promotion
With Belize’s hopes for an appearance in the World Cup of soccer later this year in France long dashed, players and fans are now relegated to cheering on the Caribbean’s sole representative – Jamaica. While most of the cheering will be done from in front of a television set, some lucky Belizeans will actually get to go to Paris to witness the games. Pebco Belize Limited, the local distributors of Carib Beer, today announced the launch of its World Cup Posse ’98 Promotion. This June, three lucky Belizeans will join ninety eight other winners from throughout the Caribbean as well as one hundred Trinidadians in a special excursion to see the games in Paris. The “under-the-crown” promotion is being sponsored by the Trinidad based Carib Brewery. Joel Salazar is the Sales and Marketing Manager for Pebco Belize Limited.

“Jamaica has qualified for the first time to participate in the World Cup. Carib Beer being the beer of the Caribbean decided that they’d rally behind Jamaica and support Jamaica in their quest for the World Cup in 1998. That’s why they have embarked on this Caribbean wide promotion to get people around the Caribbean united in support of Jamaica in their quest for the World Cup. Our winners receive seven nights accommodations in Paris, France of course the round trip ticket to Paris; tickets to see Jamaica versus Argentina, Jamaica versus Japan also three thousand French franks spending money and outfits to wear to the matches, to go as a group to support Jamaica.”
To participate in the promotion, all you have to do, is naturally drink Carib Beer or know someone who does, look for six World Cup Crowns, put them in an envelope along with an entry form and deposit it at distributors of Carib Beer around the country. Three draws will be held: one on April third, May second, and June second. Each entry is valid for only one drawing but participants may enter as many times as they wish.
