House comes crashing down
When Sylvia Cumberbatch woke up this morning, the last thing she expected was for her house to come crashing down to the ground, but that’s just what happened. The two story wooden building on Rivero Street could no longer stand on its own as the rotted beams that once supported it gave way, and in a matter of seconds, the house and all its contents, came tumbling down. Luckily, with the assistance of neighbors, none of the five residents was seriously injured.

“Well Miss I di tell you the truth, that dah wah haad ting fu I describe what happen because ih haad. All I know I mi di wash up and one a mi son di tell me, come down, unu come down hurry, come down but I continue wash up right till I just hear creak, creak, creak and I hold on to something. After I realize, flat to the ground.”
Q: “Was anybody injured? ”
Sylvia Cumberbatch
“Well only my ma. She seh ih get wah lee backache no, and I get my foot wah slight lee ting and one ah my son get wah cut nothing else, so we have to thank God for that, noh.”
Q: “What about the furniture and different things?”
Sylvia Cumberbatch
“Oh den deh bruk up. Almost everything in the house bruk up, almost everything. One a two things we save no doubt about it.”
Cumberbatch is asking for assistance specifically for another house so that she and her family can start the process of getting back on their feet.
