Elderly man found dead at home
In crime news, police were called out early this afternoon to number fifty six Daily Street in Belize City where the body of an elderly man was discovered. It has been identified as that of seventy seven year old Everaldo Martinez Pererra. The man, who was the landlord of the two storey wooden house, was found inside his residence upstairs. Up to news time, information was still sketchy but police are suspecting foul play and are investigating Pererra’s death. The elderly man had not been seen since Monday. Neighbors say Pererra frequently attended mass at Holy Redeemer Cathedral. While some neighbors recall hearing screams coming from inside Pererra’s house late Monday night, tenants in the building say they did not hear anything. One neighbor told News Five, she does not understand why anyone would want to hurt Pererra, as he was a very friendly person, who was never too busy to take time out for a friendly chat. A post mortem examination is scheduled for Thursday morning.
