Patrick Faber is Endorsed as U.D.P. Collet Standard Bearer
Five-time Area Representative Patrick Faber has been endorsed by the United Democratic Party as standard bearer for the Collet constituency. On Saturday, the National Party Council met and, in a bid for unity, gave public support to Faber’s candidacy. Faber has been at odds with the leadership of the U.D.P. since he took to social media in 2022 to openly criticize the direction of the party. In the wake of those Facebook posts, the former party leader was sacked by the nominations committee and was subsequently replaced by Ian Jones. On March twenty-ninth, Jones, also via a social media post, indicated that he would be submitting a letter of resignation. Following the National Party Council over the weekend, Party Leader Shyne Barrow issued a brief statement in which he said, “in the interest of party unity, the U.D.P. N.P.C. voted to endorse Hon. Patrick Faber as our Collet standard bearer. Together, we forge forward to deliver victory for the U.D.P. and Belize”.
