Van crashes through wall at MCC

Story Picture
It couldn’t fit into yesterday’s crowded newscast, but an accident which fortunately did not prove lethal took place in spectacular fashion on Saturday afternoon in Belize City. This van was speeding down the newly paved Newtown Barracks toward downtown when it went out of control, smashed into a parked car and spun headlong into the wall of the M.C.C. Grounds. Neither the driver, who was apparently drunk and unlicensed, nor his passenger, were seriously injured. The wall, however, was not built to withstand such an assault and went down in a shower of broken concrete. Twenty four hours after the accident the van had still not been removed and itself posed a danger to the heavy weekend traffic passing through the area.
