PM Barrow weds in Savannah, Georgia

Story PictureIt is perhaps the wedding of the year and it took place far away from home. This past Saturday, Prime Minister Dean Barrow and his long time partner Kim Simplis tied the knot at the Episcopal Church of St. Paul the Apostle in Georgia, USA. If you did not make the list of invitees to the exchange of vows in chilly Savannah, you will have an opportunity to view what has been called a “private” wedding, away from the fuss in Belize. As you will see, the bride arrived at church wearing a mink jacket above an off white, floor length dress by designer Monique Lhuillier and carried a bouquet of red roses. She was accompanied to the altar by her father. The Anglican Bishop Right Reverend Phillip Wright flew to Savannah to preside over the I-dos for the couple. The best man was the PM’s brother Denys and maid of honour was the sister of the bride Candice. One of the two flower girls was their daughter Salima.

You will recognize a number home based Belizeans that did make it, including Minister Anthony “Boots” Martinez, the P.M.’s law partner Rodwell Williams, Patrick Andrews from the Bank of Nova Scotia, the Roe brothers, Adrian, Trevor and Christopher, Ambassador Ting Joseph Shih, Eamon Courtenay, Ralph Feinsten, Richard Stuart, their spouses and others. News Five has video footage of the ceremony through special arrangements with our friends in Savannah.

[Highlights of Ceremony…]

A reception at Marshall House followed the exchange of vows. And if you’re wondering about the honeymoon, we’re told the P.M. is scheduled back at his desk tomorrow.
