Story PictureFrom north to south, activities are picking up pace and Saffiyah Muhammad has details of fun events such as music tributes and travelling movie showcase. So you’ll have a wide assortment of choices for a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

Hey guys I’m Safiyyah and this is What’s Happening Belize? As you all know Valentines Day is almost here but before I tell you about all the lovey dovey events I have a few others first.

This weekend the Bliss will be having free screenings of films made in the Caribbean. This first Traveling Caribbean Showcase will feature three films, each one much different from the other. The films will be shown starting at six then six-twenty and eight p.m. this Saturday. The entrance is free.

Tonight NICH will be presenting a tribute to Bob Marley at the House of Culture beginning at eight p.m. This concert will feature Mark Phillips, Emmerson Guild, Dane Henry and many more. The Entrance is free and there will be food and drinks on sale. So tonight you can head over to the House of Culture for the Tribute to Bob Marley.

On Sunday there will be a march down Central American Boulevard followed by an all day Karate Tournament for peace at the City Center. Competing will be groups from Belize as well as from El Salvador and Guatemala. The entrance is six dollars for adults and three dollars for kids. There will be food and drinks on sale.

Also on Sunday there will be another tribute to Bob Marley at the M.C.C. tennis court. This event begins at six p.m. and will include entertainment as well as the viewing of a Bob Marley concert shot in Germany.

Before I go I want to remind everyone that you still have a chance to be a part of the S.J.C. raffle. There is a wide range of great prizes to be won so get your tickets now. The drawing will be done on Friday thirteenth of February. For more information just head over to S.J.C. or give them a call.

Next week I’m sure I’ll have lots of lovely things to tell you about but until then, bye!

If there’s an event that you want featured, give me a call at 625-3079. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday at ten p.m.
