Radiologist Charged for Sexual Assault to Be Called Before Medical Council

The sexual assault accusation against Punta Gorda Town Radiologist, Desmond Arzu, is currently being investigated by police. Reports are that Minister Bernard was among the first persons that the twenty-three-year-old victim reached out to with her complaint. But, it wasn’t until sometime after that Arzu was charged for the crime of sexual assault and placed on interdiction. When we caught up with the Minister of Health in Belize City this morning, he was asked about the email he received from the alleged victim and the initial response he gave her.

“I will say this because this matter is now in the hands of the police. And I would want not engage in anything else I know that from the very beginning that email came to me, my team have been on the ground in communicating with, the victim, and the purported victim. And we took necessary action that we knew have to be taken. Again, I will leave that as that. I want to ensure that the proper process goes through and wherever the chips lie let them lie. That is where it is in our position. We don’t, we’re not, I will never condone any level of abuse, whether it is in the private sector or public sector. The medical council also got a copy of letter and had taken necessary review that will take place.”
