Two charged in murder of O.W. businessman
It was a particularly brutal killing in a part of the country where brutal deaths are not all that uncommon. But tonight police have in custody two men whom they say are responsible for the murder of Indian businessman Bherumal Punjabi. Punjabi’s body was found last Wednesday night in a canefield off the San Roman Road. His throat had been impaled by a stalk of cane. Jointly charged with murder and conspiracy to murder where 24 year old Alvaro Cowo and Guillermo Neal. The two men, both residents of San Joaquin Village, were seen at the Santa Elena border at the same time as Punjabi, but left the area prior to the businessman. Police allege that on his way home to Orange Walk Punjabi picked up Cowo and Neal at the Libertad junction. They then forced him into the canefield where they robbed and killed him. Over sixteen hundred dollars was found on each of the suspects.
