Love F.M. promotes food project
The Christmas spirit evaporated long ago; January was short on both money and fun… But don’t worry, February is almost here and some colleagues of ours on Freetown Road have an idea.

“And don’t forget the feeding program starts on February second where we will be in Punta Gorda, reaching out to the less fortunate brothers and sisters and at the same time talking with them, sharing with them on exactly how they can become more self sustainable.”
This year as the Love F.M. crew gets ready to celebrate the station’s fifth birthday on February the fourteenth, they have decided not only to pump up the airwaves with their accomplishments, but as well have decided to promote a much more needed cause for Belize’s less fortunate.

“We recognize that there are a number of organizations doing feeding programs, but everybody is simply working in isolation in their own little cocoon and so we invited them to a meeting and share the idea with them. We said wouldn’t it be nice to have one National Feeding Program. It was also agreed that, we believe that if we have one national program, we will be better able to, we will be better able to send up proposals to get international funding and it was then that we recognize the Belize School Canteen Association as the better organized group to deal with it to be the organization that we will focus our attention on after this awareness program.”
“Every working man and woman is asked to donate food items to any of the Human Development offices in the districts or to the representatives of the Belize Canteen Association.”
Brian Mossiah, who is Love F.M’s Project Coordinator says they have been working along with the Ministry of Human Development Department and have representatives in the districts to help coordinate the feeding program.

“And we have asked those people to come together and identify one spot where people can send their donations. We also came up with the idea of working with supermarkets, where they set up a box in the supermarket and shoppers would, would ask shoppers to from time to time if they can afford it. Anything you can afford, a pound rice, a pound of potatoes, a tin of milk and so that is how we are trying to get the food.”
