Shooting and stabbing in Roaring Creek Village

A shooting at Roaring Creek Village has left two men hospitalized. Sometime around eleven this morning, twenty-seven year old Dane Matute and eighteen year old Errol Gabourel were both in the Another World Area in the village resting after playing basketball when several shots were fired towards them from nearby bushes. Matute received injuries to the chest and was rushed to the Western Regional Hospital for emergency tests to determine the severity of his condition. Gabourel also received injuries to his hip, side and leg and was taken to the hospital for treatment. When News Five contacted the hospital, we were told that Matute received five entry wounds to the chest, but the pellets only penetrated his skin and both men have been admitted under stable condition.

And while Matute and Gabourel have survived the attack, another teen from Roaring Creek Village did not fare off. On Friday night, nineteen year old Brandon Jones was admitted at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital suffering from multiple stab wounds. According to Jones’ brother, Jarreth, his brother was stabbed twice—one to the chest and the other to his side. Today, Jones succumbed to his injuries sometime around three p.m.
