During the heated exchange, the Prime Minister said that a total of eight hundred and fifty acres of land were sold for the rock-bottom price of one hundred and seventeen thousand dollars.  He says those properties were acquired by Portico a few weeks later.

“The Definitive Agreement is useless without land.  All of these lands, fourth of November, fourth of November…  Every single one of them, see, all of them.  If you want, I could give you copies and then you can ask your deputy leader, the Minister of Natural Resources, the honorable member from Corozal North, if he took this to Cabinet and asked if he could sign it because Erwin Contreras can’t sign the Definitive Agreement before ih go da Cabinet.  But then, the honorable member from Corozal North can sign these things on the fourth of November because it’s a package.  They, on the fourth of November, signed over eight hundred and fifty acres for a hundred and seventeen thousand, nine hundred and ninety-three dollars.  And guess what, a few weeks later, a few months later, guess who buy the land?  Portico.  Thank you very much.  It’s a package, Madame Speaker.  It’s a scam from day one, but yet the Leader of the Opposition is going on every radio station on any camera they put on his face, to say “Oh, it’s the PUP, it’s a corrupt thing that the PUP did.”
