Derelict Vehicles Tagged, Will Soon be Removed from Road Side

Speaking about abandoned properties across the city, Mayor Bernard Wagner also gave the media an update on those derelict vehicles. Several weeks ago, he said that the Belize City Council was embarking on a campaign to remove derelict vehicles parked on the street side. Mayor Wagner says that these vehicles have been tagged and now it will take a multiagency approach going forward.

“Those have been tagged and so there is a time period after tagging to have the entire collaboration because as you know, when we move into those areas, we always require law enforcement with us, we require public health with us. And so it takes a stakeholder approach to really addressing it, but we will address it. You’ll be seeing… we have to look at how we store those vehicles because it becomes to some measure a liability for the council as well. So we have to look at all those areas.”
