ComPol Says Officer Martinez’s Behaviour Cannot be Countenanced
An inspector of police finds himself facing criminal charges after he is accused of beating a detainee at the Ladyville Police Station last Friday night. The incident unfolded when the detainee, Aaron Flowers, was at the Ladyville Police Station and the officer, Inspector Christopher Martinez showed up and allegedly beat Flowers in the head. The two have been having a dispute for some months, since Martinez accused Flowers of shooting at his house. Today, Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams told the media that the department is writing to the Security Services Commission for internal charges to be brought against officer Martinez.

“Yes, we are going to write to the Security Services Commission to seek disciplinary charges against him in respect of that matter.”

“Is he on interdiction? What’s the case right now?”
Chester Williams
“That will have to be determined by the Security Services Commission. We are making the request. As soon as that is done, then he goes on interdiction if they agree to put him on interdiction.”

“Will there be a tribunal?”
Chester Williams
“That is done at the Services Commission level, not at our level. As police officers and especially at the rank that he holds, we expect better, and if a person is already in police custody, there is no need to use force on that person, regardless on the degree of force, unless if the person needs to be restrained or something of that sort. But when it comes to going all the way into a cell block and beat somebody the way how that occurred, we cannot countenance such behaviour, no.”
