Leaked document: Supreme Court rules against Musa

The verdict will be read in court on Thursday morning but today News Five has obtained a copy of a judgement dated January 22nd, having the purported signature of Justice George Meerabux. And if the judgement is genuine it is not good news for opposition leader Said Musa. The main points of the ruling are that the House of Representatives acted well within its powers when it sought to punish Musa for contempt. These powers flow by common law from the British House of Commons and the court, while it may inquire into the powers of the House, does not have the power to answer complaints relating to the internal management of that body. Thus the application for judicial review is refused and motion for Constitutional redress dismissed. The ball now appears to be firmly in the court of Speaker B.Q. Pitts. On Friday he will take his shot…which will likely signal the end of one game and the beginning of another. We’ll refrain from seeking comment on today’s bombshell until we hear the official Supreme Court decision on Thursday morning.
